Combine interactive immersion Spanish classes with surf lessons on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Playa Tamarindo; add in weekend adventure tours, evening cultural activities and a weekly service project, you get an exciting and challenging study abroad experience.
No prior surf or language experience necessary to join, although it does help! Our Surf Camp takes place in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica, which is located on the Northern Pacific coast and is a world-famous surfing destination with three different beaches and dozens of different breaks in the immediate area. This makes it an ideal place for surfers of all levels and abilities, from beginner to advanced. Certain parts of the beach are perfect for beginners, while just a couple hundred meters away there is a completely different break, great for intermediate and advanced levels. As students progress in their ability, they will be challenged with larger and more technical waves.
Besides the surf and Spanish lessons, we’ll have cultural activities such as Latin dance classes and cooking classes. On the weekends, we will explore the surrounding natural wonders of the Guanacaste Province, we will raft down mountain rivers, zip line through forest canopies, horseback ride on white sand beaches, sea kayak to pristine islands, swim in crystal blue bays and hike to towering waterfalls. We are committed to help protect the beauty and natural environment of Costa Rica. To give back, all students will participate in a beach clean-up each Friday.

Our Playa Tamarindo Teen Camp has both an Overnight (Residential) Camp option and a Day Camp option. All students attend 4 hours/day of level-appropriate Spanish lessons and lunch, Monday through Friday. Both camp options are composed of the same basic daily structure and itinerary, plus three different afternoon activities from which to choose: Surf, Adventure and Intensive Spanish.
In addition to the above schedule of lessons and activities, residential campers also receive lodging at our camp compound, all meals, a two-day weekend adventure tour, 24-hour supervision and accident/travel insurance. We offer Airport pick-up and drop-off service for all students and families.
