Pacuare River is known as one of the five best rivers in the world for rafting. Adrenaline takes center stage as you run class III and IV rapids while taking in the lush tropical rainforest with all its flora and fauna.
On day 1 you’ll do the first half of the run, making stops at several strategic spots for short hikes to the streams that line the descent. You’ll be treated to a delicious lunch prepared by your guide and served on the beach at the edge of the river. After four hours we’ll get to the camp site, and you can rest in your cabin or hike the surrounding trails.
Day 2 starts with a walk through the forest trails towards the indigenous community of Nairi Aguari, where the Chavez Luna family lives; here you’ll learn about their daily lives, traditional homes and crops. We’ll then head back to the camp along a mountain trail leading to the river. You’ll walk along the riverbank and swim in natural pools – a very pleasant and safe way to return, as everyone is outfitted with life jackets and helmets.
By the time you get back to the camp, lunch will be ready. You’ll have time to have some rest, change clothes and eat lunch. The second part of the river run starts at around 12:30pm and goes through class III and IV rapids and the breathtaking Dos Montañas canyon. The run ends around 3:00 pm and then we will return to Turrialba.
