The Real Costa Rica Experience 5-days

5 days of culture and adventure!
For over 20 years we’ve created experiences that share our beautiful country through our culture, nature and adventure. Here we’ve put it all together for you in an authentic rural Costa Rica experience.

Day 1/ Costa Rica Coffee tour
This is a real agro-tour. We will visit the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica: Aquiares, established in 1890 it's also one of the most historic coffee farms in our country. Here you will learn about the history of coffee, how it’s farmed and harvested prior to the milling and roasting process. In the mill you will witness the transformation of the coffee cherry into a ready to roast bean. This process includes coffee reception and measurement, de-pulping, fermenting, drying, storage and finally husking and grading. Once graded the coffee is ready for roasting. After a visit to the roasting facilities, you’ll take part in an interactive tasting session and sample different types and qualities of coffee. Our expert guide will also teach you how to prepare outstanding coffee at home!
Day 2/ Adventure day
You’ll start the day with an unforgettable adrenaline rush! Rappelling down four waterfalls, zip lining down five zip-line cables and walking across a 132 feet hanging bridge. After lunch, the adventure continues with a bicycle ride through the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) where your guide will explain the great diversity of the forest and fruit plantations such as: coffee, cacao, sugar cane, citrus, plantains, bananas, macadamia, pineapple, mango, avocados and many other exotic species from tropical countries. Thanks to the diversity in flowers and fruits, the plantation is also an ideal site for watching birds, mammals and some reptiles. You will finish the tour with a visit to the Tropical Botanical Garden, which has a collection of some of the most important tropical plants in the world.
Day 3 & 4 / Local Community Homestay

After breakfast, Mollejones Community is waiting for you. For two nights you’ll be staying with Costa Rican families experiencing first-hand their lifestyle, learning about their culture and sitting at their table to share stories. During these two days you’ll visit different families and engage in their economic activities, learning how they grow and harvest guava, visit a dairy farm, visit a traditional sugar cane mill and see the whole process of it. You’ll also learn how to bake bread and make “cajetas” (sugar cane caramel) live a cultural evening with traditional games and also spend some time with the community elders who have some amazing stories to tell.

Day 5/ Rafting Pacuare River

After breakfast, one of our guides will pick you up at Mollejones and the adventure begins at Pacuare River for a one-day rafting experience. The Pacuare River is ranked as one of the five best rivers in the world for white water rafting. The tour ends in a community called Siquirres located just two hours from San José.
