Veiled in the shadow of the Turrialba Volcano, like a mythical “lost city” from a storybook, lies a mysterious ancient city that was once home to over 10,000 people but seems to have mysteriously vanished just before the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century. This region, known as Guayabo National Monument, is Costa Rica’s most important archaeological site; reason for which it’s declared a National Monument. Also, its impressive aqueduct earned it the title of World Heritage of Civil Engineering.
Your local guide will walk you through the archaeological site, explaining the findings of the excavations and the history of the people that once lived there. Experience these ancient ruins in Costa Rica that guard a world of mysteries and unanswered questions!
