3-day cultural immersion

Mollejones is a small village of great people who work the land and welcome visitors as if they were part of their own families. This town absolutely off the beaten path and is ideal for experiencing life in a rural Costa Rican town, visiting small, local farms to meet the farmers and learning about how they transform steep hillsides into their livelihood.

Day 1

On day 1, you must have your own vehicle or ask about the price of transportion. After having breakfast you’ll come to our Base Camp in Turrialba to pick up our guide. We’ll drive to Mollejones and the first amazing place we’ll visit is a traditional sugar cane mill where you’ll learn everything there is to know about the plant, and its process. There you’ll also learn about the guava plantations and of course taste the delicious products that come out of these two crops. After a delicious home-made lunch, we’ll take you to your host family where you’ll spend the next two nights. At the end of the afternoon the community will put together a cultural event where you’ll get to play traditional games and meet these beautiful people.

Day 2

You’ll start the day with a home-cooked breakfast and then you’ll get a real feel of the life in rural Costa Rica by visiting different families and engaging in their economic activities. You will learn how to bake bread and make “cajetas” (sugar cane caramel), visit a dairy farm and spending some time with the community elders who have some amazing stories to tell.

Day 3

It’s time to say goodbye, but we know you’ll come back. Or at least, this beautiful place will always be with you every time you tell the stories of the moments you lived and the people you met here. After breakfast, you´ll have to return to Turrialba so you can continue your Costarican adventures.
