The Institute for Spanish Language Studies is happy to announce our 2017/18 Winter Break Children’s Spanish & Adventure Camp in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica. The camp is for children 5 to 12 years of age, who are traveling to Costa Rica with their parents over the winter holidays and are looking for a fun and adventurous learning vacation. Family members over 13yrs old can take the adult Spanish and Spanish/Surf programs or enjoy all that Tamarindo has to offer during the hours the children are in camp. The camp takes place for two weeks at the end of December and early January. The first week is Monday, December 25th and the second week is Monday, January 1st. Since both Mondays are holidays, we will not have a structured set of camp activities on those days

Instead, we will have optional activities planned throughout the day. This way families will have time together as well as fun group options.  For the weekend in-between, we have set up an amazing, family friendly, trip to Arenal Volcano and hot springs. Families can choose to participate in the camp for one or both weeks and the Arenal Tour is optional. There are several other half day, full day and weekend excursions from which to choose as well. All should be booked well in advance as space will be extremely limited. Below is the itinerary for both weeks of the Winter Children’s Camp. All camp activities from Tuesday through Friday are included and scheduled for the days and times listed below, but are subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. Each week combines age appropriate Spanish lessons with lunch, cultural activities, exchange with local children, adventure tours and surf lessons.

Camp Orientation takes place the Sunday before each week at 4pm. It is important that children and adults attend this function. Those taking classes will be given Spanish placement evaluations by our Spanish teachers. The adults will meet with the camp director who will go over the weekly activities, time schedules and expectations. Afterward, staff will be available to answer all additional questions There is an 8 student minimum for each week and a maximum of 20. Space is available on a first come first serve basis. We are very excited about providing our Children’s Spanish Camp during the winter break to celebrate the end of year holidays. It is the beginning of the dry season in Costa Rica and the most celebrated time to visit Costa Rica. Come join us!
